770 Series

Full floater strength in a compact four-stud and small five-stud package.

The 770 Series is our steel fully-floating hub kit for smaller, lighter diffs. It uses the same hubs, bearings and upgraded locking system as our 1500 Series, but in a more compact package available in four-stud and small five-stud patterns. A good match for smaller housings like the Hilux. Street, drag, circuit, speedway, rally, even street rod.

Like any floater, it takes vehicle weight, braking and cornering loads off the axle and carries them through the hub, bearings and spindle, so the axle only has to transmit drive. Because the wheel is carried by the hub and bearings, not the axle, it stays on the car even if an axle ever lets go. And with the rotor running on a rigid, preloaded bearing setup, there’s far less brake pad knockoff under hard cornering.

Each kit covers both sides of the car and ships as a complete, preloaded assembly: no fitting studs, bearings or preload setting left for you to do.

Our upgraded locking system replaces the old-school slotted nut and bend-over tab washer. Bearing preload is set in-house with a solid preload spacer, so there’s no setting it up like a front wheel bearing. The spindle nut is drilled and tapped and locked with a chromoly locking ring, and button-head screws lock the ring and nut into a slot in the spindle. Do it up to 190 Nm with the supplied spindle nut tool and forget it.

Designed and manufactured in-house in Brisbane. CNC machined and hand-assembled under one roof, with full heat-number traceability on all raw materials and processes.

All kits include the following:

  • Slimline chromoly hubs with our upgraded locking system
  • Spindles*: bare, or an optional flanged upgrade for easy brake fitment
  • Drive flanges
  • Timken bearings, installed and preloaded
  • Steel-cased hub seals and solid preload spacers
  • Wheel studs installed to suit
  • Drilled and tapped spindle nuts, chromoly locking rings and spindle nut tool
  • Left- and right-hand thread spindles and nuts, so they can’t work loose
  • End caps in black or red
  • All bolts, washers and O-rings needed to complete the build

Stud pattern: 4×4.25″ | 4×110mm | 4×4.5″ | 5×4.25″

Spline: 28 | 30 | 31

The drive flange is splined to match the wheel end of your axles. All three are 24/48 DP, 45° pressure angle. If your axles are 30° (BorgWarner M86, Dana, Chrysler) they will not fit, even at the same tooth count.

Not sure? Count the teeth on the wheel end, measure the OD, and contact us to confirm.

Spindle: 1510 | 1515 | 1519

1510 – plain, no flange (suits VT–VZ Commodore brakes)
1515 – flanged for brake mounting, 127 OD, 8× M8 tapped
1519 – flanged, 127 OD, 7× M8 tapped, flat bottom (the spindle supplied with our Wilwood packages)

Brake package: full kits to suit the 770. Every kit fits without shimming: the Wilwood kits bolt straight up to the 1519 spindle, the VT–VZ bracket welds to the housing tube. Wilwood packages are supplied with black calipers. Contact us for red. Click a part number to see what’s in the kit.

VT–VZ bracket fitting tool: optional. Holds the caliper bracket square to the spindle while you tack and weld it. Add it to any VT–VZ kit, or buy it on its own.

Not ordering brakes yet? No problem. Choose the spindle to suit the brakes you plan to run and we can sort the brakes later.

Drum brakes? We can do those too. Contact us for details.

Wheel studs: thread and length to suit

All lengths in mm, measured with the stud installed. Protrudes = from the drive flange face to the tip; unthreaded shank = plain shank showing past the flange (what locates the rotor or drum); unthreaded lead = the plain nose at the tip.
